Islamic Inheritance Calculator

Work out how an estate is distributed among heirs under the Islamic law of succession (Farā'id) — including debts, funeral costs and any bequest (waṣiyyah) — before the fixed Quranic shares are applied.

Step one

The estate

£
Total assets at death
£
Settled first
£
Incl. unpaid zakat, mahr & kaffārah
£
To non-heirs, max one-third
Step two

The heirs

Spouse

Descendants

Parents & grandparents

Siblings

Extended family (ʿasaba)

Eligibility notes

  • Only Muslim relatives inherit under Farā'id; non-Muslim relatives may instead receive a bequest (waṣiyyah).
  • A child in the womb at the date of death takes their share on being born alive.
  • Grandchildren inherit through sons only — daughters' children, maternal uncles and other relatives not listed are distant kindred (dhawū al-arḥām), outside the standard heirs and this calculator.
  • Hover over any relative for who qualifies.
Step three

Distribution

Now make it legally binding

In England & Wales, these shares only take effect through a properly drafted will. W Advisory can turn your results into a Sharia-compliant, tax-efficient estate plan — wills, trusts and Inheritance Tax, handled together.
